Take a Hike – King Canyon Trail

The King Canyon Trail is located in Saguaro Natl. Park West.  The trail starts across from the Desert Museum on Kinney Road. Total hike is 7 miles to Wasson Peak. In the beginning there are petroglyphs on the rocks along the wash. I would rate this trail as strenuous because it is a total of 1,839’ elevation gain. This hike is all in the sun, so bring plenty of water, sunscreen, hat, hiking sticks, snack, and always wear hiking boots and socks. Trail is very rocky in parts.  Some hikers may choose to remain at the saddle of the Sweetwater trail junction. (the hike from here to Wasson Peak is the steepest part of the hike). Drivers please bring your Parks Pass to display in car windshield.  Please pay to driver $5.00. Call Bill Simpson if you have any questions.  520 232-3670

***If you want to hike on Saturdays, Anamax Park in Sahuarita has a hiking program. These are guided hikes, moderate and they drive from the Anamax Park to the trail head in a van. If you are interested call 445-7850.  Nice hikers and good hikes.  Usually hike is from 7:30 a.m. and back by 1 p.m.
