Green Mt. to Maverick Spring

Another hike in the cool Santa Catalina Mountains. We will park around Mile Post 12 on Catalina Hwy. We start hiking at the General Hitchcock campground area. There are restrooms nearby. This hike is a total of 5 miles (out and back…not a loop). We start hiking at 6,000’ elevation and go to 7300’ elevation. Will be uphill in the first part of hike and then we turn around and hike down. Difficulty is moderate-strenuous. Be sure to layer clothing as it can be quite cool this time of year in the mountains. Wear a hat, take plenty of water, we recommend hiking sticks as the trail is rocky and steep in some areas. Bring a snack or sandwich. Wear hiking boots and sunscreen. Pay to driver $5.00.
