The M&M group has a ‘special’ treat in store for its November outing.  We will be visiting Asarco’s Mission mine.  We will be accompanied by one of their geologists who will take us to some tailings and we have permission to dig/remove rocks!  This will take place on Thursday, Nov. 13.  Meet at the clubhouse at 8:30 a.m. After we leave the clubhouse, we’ll meet the ASARCO representatives at the ASARCO Mineral Discovery Center parking lot (Interstate I-19 and Pima Mine Road) at 9:00 am. Be looking for the signup sheet in the clubhouse lobby. Also, the mine is only allowing 15 people for this trip.  At this time the club members have already accounted for 10 of those openings.  So, be sure to keep an eye out for the sheet.  We confirm number of remaining slots on it, if any. Depending on the mining sequence, the mine’s Geologist will finalize a safe location on one of the stockpiles (tailings) and we’ll be escorted onto the site. We expect that we’ll be done around noon. Hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, and long trousers or pants will need to be worn. No open toe shoes.
