162nd Fighter Wing Tour
Tucson International Airport is home to the Air National Guard’s (ANG’s) premier F-16 fighter pilot training unit, the 162nd Fighter Wing. It is the largest ANG fighter wing in the
country and resides on 94 acres next to the Tucson International Airport. The wing shares use of the runway, and fire control with the airport. Resident Frank Young has arranged
a free 2 hr. tour of the 162nd Wing for residents of Rancho Resort. Attendees will carpool to the location off Valencia in Tucson. Directions will be provided. The 162nd Wing serves
the United States and allied nations by providing the finest fighter training programs in the world while partnering with the U.S. Air Force in overseas contingencies and Aerospace
Control Alert. The wing has trained pilots from 28 countries that fly the F-16 today. The wing manages a fleet of more than 70 F-16 C/D and Mid-Life Update (MLU) Fighting Falcons.
A sign-up sheet will be on a clipboard in the lobby. The tour sign-up will be limited to 23 residents. Frank advises that, for security purposes, those that want to attend provide
Captain Mary Hook, via her phone number or email, their full names, DOB, and SS number no later than July 13th. Sign up early and mark your calendars. Then contact her at 520-295-
